Heady vertigo
This limb, how dare I step out?
Too late, staring down
Spinning, mood vulnerable
Will I only break a leg?
The six AM breeze
Tickled tiny leaves above
Where collared doves sing
I pine for bygone peace
I mourn new joy gained and lost
First light’s angled rays
Color the grass kelly green
Aching still, I breathe
Backlit flies with bright halos
Dance this stage for three minutes
Bright robins warble.
The downey woodpeckers’ call
Reminds me, “Look up!”
Chest slows, draining my ire
These are Your preparations
Then I call to You
hoping you’ll respond, again
Desperate for alms,
Yet more compassion and grace
Ahhh! You’ve composed this bird song
Heady vertigo
Tickled tiny leaves above
Aching still, I breathe
Chest slows, draining my ire
Ahhh! You’ve composed this bird song
