Hour of the tiger
Glorious full moon has set …
now only stillness
Weekend morning
sunbeam dances on the wall
... baby coos delight
you climb up on me
head lovingly on my chest
—belly rub time!
once a Spanish church
Now chicken parm at half six—
Clay roof tiles rejoice
dead rat in the sky
moonlight paints its belly
—aircraft safety light
inside tv voices
like olde time radio shows
... a thousand stars tonight
long Valley weekend
this quiet soothes my city soul
—twelve hummingbirds
The piñons whisper
Over the bones of dried sage
—autumn equinox
pleasant morning walk
cirrus streaks behind elm trees
—dog is impatient
the yard carpeted
with American Ivy
...pausing I see it
the honey locust
still green in early autumn—
so much rain this year
neighbor’s lilac bush
harshly cut back this summer
—will it bloom next Spring?
composing haiku
dog and I circle the block
—each tree a poem
panting doodle trots
past ragwort and cocklebur
—offleash on this trail
delivery truck
growls as it accelerates
—after the light turns
windows down I sing
head in the wind dog smiles
...early autumn store run
